PHOTOJOURNALISM WORK GUATEMALA // PART 1

Back in October, me and 16 other guys from my church took a trip to Puerto Barrios to help people in need. I went wanting to go and capture the experiences we would be faced with. I wasn’t sure what to expect because it was my first time doing this type of mission work. We arrived in Honduras where we took a 3 hour bus ride into Guatemala. The scenery was beautiful, the people were so incredibly nice. As we drove past the little villages and small cities, I could already see such a huge difference from the lifestyle I’m used to seeing back home. Although, they had so little in their earthly possessions, they were extremely happy and grateful people living a simpler lifestyle. We arrived in Puerto Barrios and got onto a boat that took us 20 minutes out to the camp we were all staying at. Our main objective as a whole was to change the roof of a school that hasn’t been changed in over 40 years. The children were extremely happy to see us and loved having photos taken of them. We also helped set up 2 nights of evangelism at the town rodeo arena. This is the first of a two part blog post from what I saw on our trip. I will be posting up the next part in a few days.
